"The Medicaid program should not pay for the cost of erectile dysfunction drugs for sex offenders," spokesman Gary Karr said.
Notices were going out to states as early as yesterday, less than 24 hours after New York State Controller Alan Hevesi revealed 198 of the state's most dangerous sex fiends were being reimbursed for the impotence drug, courtesy of Medicaid.
Karr said state officials were apparently unaware they didn't have to include Viagra as part of the sex offenders' Medicaid coverage because they were confused by a 1998 Clinton-era letter. That letter listed Viagra as a drug that could be covered by Medicaid.
Hevesi's disclosure of the bizarre drug benefit prompted NY Democrats Senator Chuck Schumer to draft federal legislation banning Viagra coverage for all sex offenders on Medicaid. His fellow Democrat Sen. Hillary Clinton also put out a statement decrying the free Viagra for fiends.
"Giving convicted sex offenders Viagra is like giving convicted murderers an assault rifle when they get out of jail," Schumer said.

VI. Job description for Technical Officer for Laboratory Network
development
General:
The Technical Officer for Laboratory Network development is
responsible for assisting the NTP and the Directorate Health
Laboratory to enhance the quality of the performance of the TB
laboratory network.
The post is a full time position within the KNCV Representative
Office,
Tasks:
He/she is responsible to provide technical support:
1. development of guidelines for new laboratory standards
consistent with international practice.
2. assess whether microbiology tests for TB diagnosis are
carried out according to TB laboratory guidelines
3. assess the condition of equipment according to national
standards
4. assist in human resource development for laboratory services
5. support the functioning of individual laboratories and the
network
6. assess the EQA system and provide technical support to
improve the EQA
7. improve the link between the laboratory system and the NTP
7. assist the NTP in developing work plans that address the
constraints of the lab network
8. Assist the NTP in implementation of the work plan to improve
the performance of the TB laboratory
Further the Lab Technical Officer will:
9. Assist in activities that are directly or indirectly related
